Gitex Global, the UAE’s annual tech event, began on October 10 and ended on October 14

It was an extraordinary five days with revolutionary developments, innovative technologies, futuristic solutions, driverless cars, AI-driven products and incredible robots. The 42nd installation of Gitex Global, the UAE’s annual tech event, began on October 10 and ended on October 14.

The event featured a global lineup of companies and startups, showcasing innovative solutions across the metaverse, artificial intelligence (AI), Web3, blockchain, 6G, cloud computing, fintech and big data. Here are some key highlights from Gitex Global.

Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of Dubai Executive Council, toured Gitex on the closing day.

RTA Dubai signed five MOUs with regional and international technology companies. It forged partnerships with the private sector and harnessing advanced technology solutions in running operations. The MOUs have been signed with Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft, Moro Hub (Data Hub Integrated Solutions), Trapeze Middle East Telecommunication Equipment Trading and SAS.

Etisalat UAE showcased the power of 5G network and their latest digital solutions at the Gitex stand.

Dubai Chamber of Commerce showcased new digital initiatives and projects in the pipeline that are designed to enhance its services, improve ease of doing business and foster the adoption of innovative technologies within the business community.

G42 Cloud and Dataiku partnered  to enrich the customers’ offerings using Dataiku’s capabilities & G42 Cloud power.

Saudi Arabia showcased their digital transformation and smart solutions through their special Saudi Vision 2030 stand.

The Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security (ICP) recently announced the launch of the third generation of UAE passport. At their #gitexglobal2022 stand UAE nationals can apply for new and renewed passports.

Residents who wish to apply for a new Emirates ID or want to renew their cards will soon be able to do so without having to leave their homes. At the ongoing Gitex Global in Dubai, the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs, and Port Security (ICP) on Thursday announced the launch of a new smart service that will make Emirates ID applications hassle-free.

The Dubai Police stand introduced visitors to some of its innovations, digital services, NFT collection, & virtual reality. 

DEWA’s programmes and initiatives backed by Digital DEWA showcased a variety of proactive digital initiatives.

Coders and developers gathered to connect, network and engage with leading companies at Talent Connect situated at the CodersHQ stand in #GlobalDevSlam.

Abdullah Bin Touq Al Marri, Minister of Economy, for the first-ever UAE Trade and Tech Investment briefing with a discussion about UAE federal perspectives on the economic priorities.

A discussion session with Abdulla Bin Touq, Minister of Economy, Omar Sultan AlOlama, Minister of AI, and the audience about the digital world, the development of the digital economy, and entry to the market in the UAE.

Gitex Africa marked the first international venture for world’s mega tech showcase, in partnership with Morocco’s Digital Development Agency.

A new version of Dubai Police smart application was launched that supports seven languages and provides 70 advanced services using the latest programming languages, algorithms, and techniques.

Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai and Mariam bint Mohammed Almheiri, UAE Minister of Climate Change toured Gitex where they explored the latest technologies and solutions.

Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed later later toured the show accompanied by a number of dignitaries including Omar bin Sultan Al Olama, Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy, and Remote Work Applications; Dr. Mohamed Al Kuwaiti, Head of Cyber Security, UAE Government; and Helal Saeed Almarri, Director General of the Dubai World Trade Centre Authority (DWTCA) and the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism.

Meanwhile, governmental representatives and global tech company leaders took over the main stage on the first day of the event talking about their latest innovations and discussing the future of technology.

UAE’s telecom operator du has partnered with Huawei and SINOTRANS to deliver 5G-driven robot warehouse solutions for the UAE’s logistics industry.

The MoU was signed at the Gitex event, where du is presenting under the theme ‘Powering governments, Shaping The Emirates Reality’ featuring technologies such as Internet of Things (IoT), augmented reality, metaverse, blockchain, NFT and robotics.

The UAE’s Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation’s (MoHRE) participation at Gitex Global will revolve around showcasing its smart services to serve customers, such as the awareness programme, the new communication channel via WhatsApp, its smart app, smart communication system, the Nafis platform, and the open data system.

Gulf Business launched the GB Crypto magazine at Gitex Global.

Dubai Airport Freezone (DAFZ) is set to step into the metaverse with the launch of METADAFZ at Gitex Global, aiming to attract foreign direct investment and businesses to the free zone.
